In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives us a sobering reminder: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven.” Faith is not merely an intellectual exercise or a matter of knowing the right answers. While our minds are important—we are called to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind—it is ultimately our love that matters most. The question is not simply what we know about Jesus, but whether we truly know Him in a personal and loving relationship.
Thomas à Kempis wrote in The Imitation of Christ, “It is not learning that makes a person holy and just, but a virtuous life makes one pleasing to God.” When Christ becomes the center of our lives, His grace transforms us. Our thoughts, words, and actions begin to reflect His own. We grow in patience, kindness, mercy, and charity. In other words, we become more like Christ each day.
