Memorial of St. Dominic: Sharing Faith with Courage and Love

Today’s Readings

When we’re invited to share our faith—whether by leading a small group, volunteering as a catechist, or simply speaking about our beliefs—we often hesitate. We’re keenly aware of what we don’t know. Feelings of inadequacy creep in, and we may think, “This is a job for the clergy, staff, or those who are more ‘qualified’.”

The same hesitation can arise when our faith is challenged in conversations with family or friends. Unsure of what to say, we choose silence.

Yet in today’s first reading for the Memorial of St. Dominic, St. Paul offers us a powerful reminder:

“My message and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.” (1 Cor 2:4–5)

Faith-sharing is not about having all the answers. It’s about offering our authentic love for Christ. A sincere witness of faith—rooted in prayer, joy, and personal experience—often speaks louder than theological expertise.

St. Dominic devoted his life to preaching the Gospel with both truth and compassion. Let us ask for his intercession, that we too may have the courage to proclaim Christ—not just with words, but with lives shaped by love, joy, and faith. May those who encounter us be led to a deeper relationship with the Lord through our witness.
