Tuesday, Memorial of St. Peter Claver
St. Paul reminds us today of the call to “walk with Christ.” This invitation is more than simply believing in Jesus—it is living in communion with Him. We are not meant to admire His teachings from a distance but to embody them daily. Each time we gather at the Table of the Lord, nourished by His Word and His Body and Blood, we are strengthened—not to retreat from the world, but to go forth into it as His disciples. This is the ongoing work of conversion, a change of mind and heart rooted in Christ.
The true foundation of our lives must be Jesus Christ. He invites each of us into a deeper relationship with Him—teaching not only through His words in the Gospels, but also through His actions. In today’s Gospel, we see how He makes time for prayer. Even when surrounded by the demands and expectations of the crowds, Jesus withdraws to be alone with the Father. He shows us that prayer is not optional, but essential. Without it, we cannot remain rooted in God’s will.
Through us, His disciples, Christ continues to proclaim the Good News to the world. And the world is in desperate need of that message. But to be effective witnesses, Jesus must be more than a part of our lives—He must be the very center. Only when He is our priority and foundation can we truly bring His love and truth to others.
