Simplicity of Heart

Today’s Readings

In today’s Gospel, Jesus rejoices that the mysteries of God’s Kingdom are revealed to the childlike. He is not praising ignorance, but simplicity of heart—a heart humble enough to listen, trust, and follow.

We have a remarkable ability to complicate things. We overanalyze decisions, fill our minds with endless distractions, and sometimes make the spiritual life far more difficult than it needs to be. Instead of quietly listening for the Lord’s voice, we can become caught up in our own fears, pride, or desire to control every outcome.

God continues to speak to us each day. The challenge is not that He is silent, but that our hearts are often too cluttered to hear Him. Like a child who trusts a loving parent, we are invited to place our confidence in the Lord.

Today, ask God for the grace of a simple, humble heart—one that listens, trusts, and follows wherever Christ leads.
