In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls His followers to live according to the ways of God rather than the ways of the world. His words are directed first to the people of Israel, but they are just as challenging for us today. The Christian life often feels countercultural, making it difficult to remain faithful amid the pressures and distractions of daily life.
That is why the Lord gives us the gift of the Scriptures, the Sacraments, and the Church. Through them, He keeps us anchored in His love, strengthens our faith, and draws us into deeper communion with Him.
Jesus does not want us simply to admire His teaching or treat it as an inspiring thought for the day. His words are meant to transform our lives. Every encounter with Christ is an invitation to greater conversion. Out of love, He continually calls us beyond complacency so that we may experience the fullness of life and joy that only He can give.
