When I was preparing for Confirmation, I received my first Bible as a gift. If I’m honest, it spent far more time on a bookshelf than in my hands. I tried reading it several times over the years, but the unfamiliar names, history, and difficult passages often left me discouraged.
Everything changed when I realized the Bible is not simply an ancient book—it is the living Word of God. Through Scripture, the Lord continues to speak to His people today.
In today’s readings, Isaiah reminds us that God’s Word never returns empty but always accomplishes His purpose. Jesus’ Parable of the Sower invites us to look honestly at our hearts. At different moments, we have all been rocky soil, thorny soil, or good soil. The question is not, “Which soil am I?” but, “What is happening in my heart today?”
Perhaps the greatest lesson is that Jesus never stops sowing His Word. Even when we are distracted, anxious, or have left our Bible gathering dust, He continues to invite us into a deeper relationship with Him.
This week, spend a few minutes with the daily Gospel and ask, “Lord, what are You saying to me today?” His Word still has the power to transform hearts.
