One of the greatest struggles in the Christian life is the struggle with our ego. There are moments when what we want conflicts with what God desires. The story of Adam and Eve reveals this clearly. They chose to replace God, deciding for themselves what was right and taking what they wanted. We continue to face that same temptation. When challenged, we may water down the Lord’s teaching, reinterpret it to suit ourselves, or quietly ignore it—telling ourselves, “What the Lord is really saying is…”
Yet the Christian life is not merely about following a code of ethics. It is about living with a heart in love with Jesus Christ. The more we grow in love with Him, the more we are drawn toward truth, beauty, and goodness. Love deepens trust. And trust leads us to turn to Him in moments of struggle, allowing His voice—not our ego—to guide our lives.
