Longing for Peace-Living Our Identity

Today’s Readings

Advent begins with a deep invitation: to recognize the longing for peace within our hearts. True peace is not simply the absence of conflict or the presence of comfort—it is the presence of a Person: Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Advent meets us in the middle of our worries, hopes, and struggles, and gently turns our gaze toward Him. It invites us to clear away the clutter—fear, distractions, and selfishness—so that Christ may truly dwell within us.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that this season is not only about our renewal, but also about His mission through us. He loves all people and desires that all may live in His peace. The world will come to know this peace only if we live our identity as disciples—trusting in His love and becoming instruments of that love to others.

We are how the Lord reaches out to the lost and forgotten.
