Seeing Light Beyond the Holiday Lights

Today’s Readings

As I drove home from the 5:30 PM Mass last night, I noticed homes already glowing with Christmas lights. With Thanksgiving just a week away, we are quickly entering the holiday season. The lights, decorations, and music offer a welcome break from the darkness of shorter days. Yet, this time of year also brings stress—college students face exams, families rush to prepare, and many quietly carry the burdens of loneliness or loss.

In all the busyness, it becomes easy to forget that Jesus is truly present—around us, within us, and with us. When we lose sight of His presence, we also forget who we are: beloved children of God. We become distracted by noise and activity, missing the truth, goodness, and beauty He places in our lives each day.

People say, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” In truth, Jesus is the reason every day of the year. May we take time to strengthen our faith in Him, making Him the true foundation of our lives.
