The Body of Christ

Today’s Readings

James Joyce once described the Catholic Church in Finnegan’s Wake as “here comes everybody.” That line comes to mind when we hear St. Paul’s words in today’s first reading: “So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually parts of one another.”

Every Sunday we stand together—young and old, rich and poor, healthy and suffering—and profess the same Creed. In Our Lady of Fall River Catholic Community, that profession rises in three languages, yet it is one faith, one voice, one Body.

This image of unity is not simply poetic—it is profoundly practical. Each member of the Body has a role and responsibility. Our shared mission is clear: to make disciples of Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and Service. This is not a slogan; it is our identity and our purpose.

Today, take a moment to ask the Lord how He is calling you to use your gifts for the good of the Body and the glory of Christ.
