For more than a century, people have entered our churches in the City of Fall River seeking God. In the Cathedral and at Good Shepherd rest bishops and priests who shepherded this diocese; around us, we see the fruit of the faith of generations who lived and handed on what they believed.
Yesterday we celebrated All Saints Day; today, on All Souls Day, we pray for all who have gone before us, trusting in God’s mercy and love. Their faith — and ours — is rooted in the Creed we profess each Sunday: “I believe.”
The Creed is not just a prayer or statement; it is a way of life. Bishop Robert Barron reminds us that it reveals “where a person stands most fundamentally.” To say I believe is to choose Christ daily, to live as one already sharing in His victory over death.
Our hope in the resurrection gives meaning to our life here and now. As C.S. Lewis wrote, “Aim at Heaven and you will get earth thrown in.” Let our belief shape our lives — radiant with love, grounded in hope, and alive in Christ.
