Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary—her being taken body and soul into heavenly glory. This feast is not only about Mary’s unique privilege; it is a sign of hope for all who follow Christ. In her, we see the destiny God desires for His children: eternal life with Him.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells us, “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it” (Lk 11:28). Faith is more than knowing about Jesus—it is a living relationship that shapes our thoughts, words, and actions. Mary models this perfectly. She heard God’s word, believed it, and lived it fully, becoming the model disciple and image of the Church. Like Mary, the Church brings Christ to the world through the Gospel and the sacraments, always pointing to Him and inviting others to “do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5).
The Assumption reminds us that God’s promises are real. Mary’s glorification shows the concrete reality of eternal life. Following her example means loving Christ above all, seeking His will even in uncertainty, and trusting Him completely.
In a world full of distractions, Mary listened to one voice—the voice of God. If we do the same, our lives will bear the fruits of faith, generous love, and enduring hope, leading us toward the glory God has prepared for us.
