The human person desires happiness, peace of heart, and love. The world tells us we can achieve these by accumulating more in life—money, achievements, status, things. Jesus gives us a different message: “Life does not consist of possessions.”
We are not defined by what we have but by who we are: beloved children of God, made in His image. Our deepest purpose isn’t comfort or success, but to become saints—to “praise, reverence, and serve God,” as St. Ignatius said. That’s what lasts.
St. Paul urges us to seek what is above and cast aside anything that pulls us from that calling. But we’re not alone—Jesus walks with us, offering grace, rest, and the strength to live differently.
So, if today was your last day, what would change? Let go of what doesn’t matter. Begin what God has placed on your heart. Trust Him. Live against the grain. That’s the path to true peace—and eternal life.
