Today’s Readings

St. Paul praises the Church in Macedonia because ‘they gave themselves first to the Lord’ (2Cor 8:5b).  This self-giving was beyond just a giving of material assistance, but a commitment of their whole lives to the Lord and the Family of Faith.  It was an intentional giving of time, talent, and treasure.

The Psalmist today says, ‘Praise the Lord, my soul’ (Ps. 146).  This praise is not just to be merely words spoken at Mass or in a time of prayer, but a praise that comes from deep within us and bears fruit in our lives throughout the day in everything we do.  Such praise involves making a commitment of ourselves to the Lord above all things. The life of the Christian is meant to reflect the Most Holy Trinity, the communion of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Let us pray today for the grace to keep the Lord before us in everything we do today.
