“Amen, Amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” (Jn 13:16) These words of Jesus come after his washing the feet of the apostles at the last supper.
So often in life we struggle with putting ourselves ahead of God. Doing God’s will seems to be too difficult or it is simply something we don’t want to do. We may not understand it or we may be so tired, distracted or focused on ourselves that we don’t even think about God in how we live or act in a particular moment or throughout the day.
The Lord offers us a new life, a life as a beloved child of God. This life cannot be lived without Christ and it cannot be lived with ourselves at the center. We need to be intentional about making time for the Lord each day and in asking for his grace to help us live as his beloved children throughout the day.
