Saturday in the Octave of Easter

In Mark’s Gospel today we hear “When they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe…(the two disciples on the road to Emmaus) returned and told others; but they did not believe them either.” The passage ends with the ‘missionary mandate’: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to all nations.”

As disciples of the Lord, this mandate is for us.  He sends us out to proclaim the Gospel. He tells us to be prepared for those we seek to share the Gospel with to not believe us. For this reason, we need to make sure we take time for prayer each day and receive the Eucharist so we can persevere in this proclamation without losing hope.
