Today’s Mass Readings: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/060523.cfm
Yesterday we celebrated the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity. The Scriptures emphasized our faith is about a lived relationship with the Lord, one in which we participate in the life of the Trinity.
In today’s first reading we are provided with what that looks like. In Tobit we hear of his acts of charity and almsgiving for the poor, his care of the dead through prayer and burial. When we hear these words we may call to mind the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. These are how we live each day as Christ, as his instruments, but also how we serve Christ in others. Living this way is how we live and fulfill the ultimate command of the Lord to the love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind soul and being to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Take some time to ask the Lord to help you to see with his eyes today, to recognize Christ in others and to recognize the opportunities before us to share the Lord’s love and mercy.
